our story

A tan dog lying on a striped outdoor rug on a porch, with a white textured side table, a wooden chair, and a backyard with green grass, trees, and outdoor furniture.

In April 2025, I lost my yellow lab, Pax - my best friend, teacher, and constant companion for almost 14 years. Adopted from Yorktown, Virginia Lab Rescue in 2011, Pax lived every single day with curiosity, joy, and unconditional love. He taught me about being present, finding adventure in the ordinary, showing up with your whole heart, and the profound interconnection between all living beings.

Watching Pax explore the world with wonder, whether on a mountain trail or sniffing a neighborhood sidewalk, taught me that every moment matters. His patience with anxious dogs at the park showed me the power of gentle advocacy. His ability to bring people together demonstrated how animals create community. His trust in me reminded me daily of the sacred responsibility we have to care for those who depend on us.

Pax's Paws was created to honor his legacy by spreading the same joy, curiosity, and love he brought to my life. But it's more than that. It's about creating an ecosystem of care - for pets who deserve adventure and attention, for people who need reliable support and peace of mind, and for the planet that sustains us all.

Every walk I take with a client's dog, every adventure we share, every happy photo that helps a family feel connected while they're away - that's Pax living on. And every choice I make to operate sustainably, give back to rescue organizations, and build genuine community - that's honoring what he taught me about our shared responsibility to each other and this world.

This isn't just a pet care business. It's a commitment to treating every animal the way Pax was treated: with attention, adventure, respect for their individual nature, and genuine love for who they are. It's a promise to support the people who love these animals. And it's a dedication to doing this work in a way that protects and honors the planet we all share.
